Auckland Adventure Park joins Eventi!

Building Relationships, One Zipline at a Time:
A Glimpse Into Eventi Behind the Scenes

I thought I’d share a little behind-the-scenes moment from a recent win—a new client who’s just jumped on board with Eventi.

If you’ve ever wondered how we reach out to businesses, connect with potential clients, and grow our network across NZ, here’s a peek at the full process—from cold call to connection to collaboration. Take notes if you like—or throw me some tips! Either way, here’s a bit of an over-share.

When I first started building Eventi, I wasn’t just thinking about different types of events. I was thinking about the pieces that make them great. Take weddings, for example. In NZ, it’s pretty standard to have a hens or stags do before the big day. Having planned a few myself (including a stag do, believe it or not), the biggest hurdle was always: what should we do that’s actually fun?

Back then, I was living in Auckland, and while one event was local, the others were scattered across the North Island. Every idea led us down an internet rabbit hole—until we finally landed on a safe bet: boozy brunch, topless waiter, then hit the clubs. A good time, sure, but we all kind of regretted not going for something a bit more bold. Something adventurous, silly, and out of the ordinary.

That hindsight inspired one of my favourite categories on Eventi: Adventures & Activities. Imagine planning a hens and being able to take on paintball, ziplining, or an afternoon on a boat—and, finding that all in one place. That’s exactly what Eventi was built for.

Fast-forward to our launch in November 2024. Eventi now reaches out to service providers across NZ, broken down by:

  • Category (Venues, Transport, Entertainment, Adventures & Activities, and more), and
  • Region (Northland, Auckland, Waikato, and beyond).

We don’t just throw everything at the wall and hope something sticks. We’re thoughtful about who we approach and how we connect. And some weeks, like this one, we strike gold.

I was focusing on the Silverdale/Orewa area when I reached out to Auckland Adventure Park (AAP)—a spot I’d visited years ago with my son. Ro, one of the owners, replied quickly and was keen to meet. So I jumped in the car and made the nearly two-hour trip to connect in person.

This is what we mean when we say we’re relationship-focused in our sales. We see every business as a potential partner, not just a number. Driving that far to have a proper chat might sound like a lot, but to us, that’s the key. Building trust, having real conversations, and seeing if there’s alignment—without the hard sell.

Of course, it’s a risk. Sometimes people hear the pitch and say “Yeah, nah.” But even when we don’t get a sign-up, we leave them with something to think about, we grow brand awareness, and we learn. That’s a win in itself.

Thankfully, in this case, it was a win. Ro shared their story, what’s working well for AAP, and where they want to grow. One exciting area they’re exploring is corporate functions and team-building events. And that’s where Eventi fits in beautifully—helping them reach new markets and boost their visibility in a space they’re keen to expand into.

After just one conversation, we already had insight into their goals, their audience, and the time of year they’d love some extra exposure. We’re not pretending Eventi is a magic solution—but when we put the relationship before the transaction, everyone benefits. And it reminds us why we do things the way we do.

Heading into a new month of sales strategy and outreach, I’m reminded that not everyone is ready to jump on board straight away. Some say:
 “I’m booked until August.”
 “It’s not in the budget.”
 “I advertise myself already.”

And honestly? Fair enough. But for those who have signed up, they’re seeing the bigger picture. They’re using Eventi to:

  • Reach new markets
  • Be part of a like-minded community
  • Save time on social media and let someone else help carry the load

So if you’re in the activity or adventure space—offering something unique, exciting, or group-friendly—and you’ve been thinking about stepping into the events world, this is your sign.

Whether it’s birthdays, hens and stags, weddings, corporate days out, or weekends away, people are looking for businesses like yours. They’re just getting lost in the search.

With Eventi, they don’t have to. You are simple addition to their event plans.
With Eventi, if you sign up you’ll get your first six months free to test the waters, connect with a new audience, and have a fresh set of eyes helping you stand out in NZ’s event scene.

Nothing to lose—just give us a go. 😊
